Footy Tipping 2009
Congratulations to Phil O’Neill from Nagle College who has won the 2009 VIEU footy tipping competition. He scored 130 points and won by one point from 8 members who tied for second. Phil has won a $3000 travel voucher from Members Equity.
Phil, a Bombers supporter, did not pick them every week and tried to tip with the head and not with the heart. He had a good start to the season despite having to pick the first four rounds before he headed off to Central Australia.
Upon his return he found he was in with a very good chance and made sure he then played the percentages, picked the favorites, always went for St.Kilda and Geelong, and avoided picking Melbourne.
This formula worked well until the last five weeks when he fell five off the pace so he started picking some “roughies”. This enabled him to get over the line in a close finish. Phil has no immediate travel plans but thinks he may go searching for the sun perhaps to Fiji or the Cook Islands.
Congratulations also to Dianne Warr of St.Peter’s College Cranbourne who has won the $1500 travel voucher random prize sponsored by Teachers Federation Health.
VIEU would like to thank our sponsors Members Equity and CSF for their fantastic support and also thank the members who faithfully submitted their tips and contributed to another exciting VIEU tipping competition.
