IEU Awards 2023: Emma Rhodes and Kristi Cromer, Clonard College, Geelong

Every IEU member deserves an award for helping educate the next generation in ever more demanding workplaces, and Reps, who sacrifice their time so selflessly, always deserve commendation.

But there are some extra special stars we wanted to highlight for their outstanding work this year.

“Emma and Kristi have developed a way to run effective and organised sub-branch meetings where they actively address workplace issues.

“They worked effectively with school leadership throughout the CEMEA implementation process and took best-practice decisions to support all staff”.

Emma and Kristi’s work is so impressive that union staff used their motions as models at Rep and Consultative Committee training. They also presented and spoke at those sessions, sharing with colleagues how they developed and presented their successful motions.

Our organiser eagerly put them forward for this award because, “they’re smart, good unionists, and deeply passionate about education and supporting all staff at Clonard”.
