Subject: Welcome & update from your IEU Rep  

Dear colleague, 

As the elected Independent Education Union Representative in our workplace, I’d like to welcome you back to the 2026 school year. I hope you enjoyed a relaxing summer break and are starting the year feeling refreshed.  

As you know, major campaigns are underway in state and Catholic education to improve salaries and conditions – the outcomes of these campaigns will set new benchmarks for independent schools. Staff in those sectors are taking unprecedented action to demand fair wages, manageable workloads and basic industrial rights.  

To be part of this statewide push for overdue improvements in our working lives, and to make the most of improved standards in Victorian education we need strength in numbers, and we need the unity and resolve of strong union membership.   

So, if you are not currently an IEU member, I strongly encourage you to join up today. IEU membership is open to nearly all staff in our school, including teachers, support staff, school services officers and leadership.
