Register now via Member Access

Location:
FEU Conference Centre
120 Clarendon Street, Southbank

This full-day session focuses on giving Reps the tools they need to strengthen their sub-branch by building a collaborative team and sharing responsibilities.

Individuals will reflect on their core strengths, identify teammates with complementary skills and capacity, and collaborate on agreed tasks to maximise the collective strengths of the sub-branch and achieve stronger outcomes.

Reps will collaborate with IEU Organisers and Reps from other schools to develop tailored strategies for:

  • Strengthening sub-branches.

  • Building team capacity through recruitment.

  • Becoming an empowered workplace advocate.

Skills

  • Build stronger working relationships with IEU Organisers.

  • Identify your default leadership style, and adapt your approach to suit different situations and people.

  • Develop strategies for working constructively with leadership, mentoring union activists, guiding experienced members, empowering through delegation and re-engaging disengaged workers.

  • Learn to identify and delegate appropriate tasks effectively.

The right to paid training

Elected Reps have the right to paid leave to attend union training. This entitlement is a game-changer for improving industrial literacy across Australian workplaces, and the IEU encourages every Rep in every school to use this opportunity to strengthen their skills and engage their members
